The website www.kuk.art is an interactive web project. Our website allows you to experience and explore the history of the art colony Holzhausen am Ammersee.

Stories of Art and Culture in Holzhausen am Ammersee

Stories move us and bring persons and their personalities closer to us – particularly in the context of art history and contemporary history. We aim to provide our visitors with the opportunity to take a stroll through time and to explore the rich art history of our village, so the precious heritage will stay alive.

The website www.kuk.art will portray approximately 50 artists who have lived in the art colony in Holzhausen am Ammersee since 1890.

The artists, their work, their stories and relationship to the village of Holzhausen will be presented in numerous formats. Image, text and audio files will bring to life their personal history and artistic work.

Currently, our focus is on artists who lived and worked in Holzhausen at the turn of the 20th century. Their work is (now) either copyright free, or copyrights and publication rights have been generously granted by the descendants.

Our website will be continuously expanded. Ultimately, we intend to focus on contemporary artists, too.

Professional and reliable information is guaranteed by our team of art historians and contemporary historians. However, we are grateful for any advice, in case corrections or additions should be necessary.

We seek
Art Work:

We are looking for paintings, drawings, photographs and sculptures which are privately owned, in order to create a catalogue of work of the Holzhausen artists and to document the works that are not otherwise accessible to the public. Please contact us if you own art work by Holzhausen artists and would like to share this with us. We guarantee you strict confidentiality.

Anecdotes of Holzhausen:

We are looking for Holzhauser G’schicht’n in relation to the artists, their houses, or about our village, in general. Your contributions are welcome and appreciated. Please contact us.

Outlook

The project kuk.art could become a blueprint for other communities located at the Ammersee. In the course of time, it could contribute to representing our region and artists in a contemporary manner to the interested public.
